Arrow Sarasota area boaters, could use your help...

As previously mentioned, Saturday March 12, there is a statewide "boater's rally" being held at multiple locations across the state.

The contact organization for the Venice Inlet location is apparently dropping the ball and I've been asked to try to get as many boats together as possible.

It's scheduled from 10:00 am until 12 noon and will cruise from the Albee Rd. bridge on the north end down to the south bridge along the Intracoastal.

This protest rally is about the ludicrous Manatee zones and the "sky is falling" tatics of the Save the Manatee Club, the holding up of dock permits which was brought on by the Save the Manatee Club via the Feds, and in support of recreational boating and businesses.

THIS IS AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT ISSUE THAT ALL OF US HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION TO.

Anyone anywhere near our area that has the time is asked to participate. Signs were supposed to have been made but right now that is in strong question. The simplest signs will say: We Boat, We Vote.....

Anyone who can help us please do.
Email me, PM me or call me for any other details. There are two launch ramps in very close proximity to where the rally will be taking place and I can easily direct you to both.

Thanks, Russ

Yeah, I realize that. I don't believe the original organizers of this event took that into consideration.

I didn't expect too many people to travel down from your neck of the woods, I'm just trying to get as many people from this area involved as I can. Russ

No the original organizers took something else into consideration on the dates. The 2005 legislature. Take a look at this for more details:

http://www.waterfront-news.com/html/florida.htm

I ordered 125 signs for our rally in Palm Beach. I am getting great response but probably not enough to need all the signs. I would be more than happy to send you a dozen. They have 5 different sayings:

Boaters Are Voters - Save Family Boating - Downlist the Manatee - Slow Speed Not The Answer - Stop The Manatee Insanity -

Let me know if I can help you. I also have a flyer I can fax you or email that you can use as an example to change up and make your own. You still have this weekend to distribute them to marinas and shops. Thanks for stepping in on this.

Crystal, as posted in the other thread, thanks for your offer to send some signs my way, they WILL be used.

I didn't realize at the time that this was timed to coincide with the opening of the legislature. That makes almost too much sense. Obviously the government has nothing to do with this.

I am "shaking down" everyone I know that has a boat to participate. So far the people I have talked to have been very responsive. I just wish the Snake Island Republic was helping more. It's like they disappeared from the face of the Earth.

I will bring along a dig camera and shoot pix to send you so you can how we make out. Thanks again for letting me help. Russ

It appears as though a lot of people want to be involved with this. Interest is beginning to spread rapidly, thanks to people like you Dennis, and Marc at WhiteSands Marine.
