43 SCARAB Questions
I'm looking at a 43 kevlar sacrab without power and drives.
What power and drives would be required to run mid 60's to mid 70 miles and hour. The boat is a 1991 and the hull is in good shape. It is a step up from my Formula 302. Any other negative points I should consider. I have two same kids and am comfortable with a goood rough water boat and don't need to run 90 miles an hour
By the way anyone interested in beautifully restored 1982 302 Formula power trannys and drives have only 115 hours , paint and cockpit interior only a year old.
Thanks Rick G.

Re: 43 SCARAB Questions
It had big power and # 6 drives. A bit out of my league. I don't which hull it would be ,Smith or Wellcraft. It has a full cabin if that helps.
Would TRS drives work in this application , I think they are stronger than Bravos and work well with the BW tranny's.
Thanks Rick G.

Re: 43 SCARAB Questions
i think i know the boat.. its in s. fl. if its the one im thinking of its a great boat!! if i was to do it i would by a set of konrads around 10,000 per side and put about 650 hp.. it would be a bulletproof high 60 mph boat.. myself i would not even consider trs! no parts are out there. unless they are free and later you could change out to konrads or speedmasters.. the boat would live with xrs and mid 600 hp.. but the konrads are the way to go.. good luck james

If It Has A Full Cabin Then It Would Be A Wellcraft. I'm Not 100 Percent Sure But I Don't Think There Were Any Larry Smith With Cabin.

Re: 43 SCARAB Questions
James my thoughts exactly. I would only go the TRS route if they were all but free , too bad you can't get parts well not for much longer cause they are strong . I was hoping that 650 hp would get me into the mid 60's . What do you think a pair of bravos would be worth used of course complete with T plates and gimbals.

Re: 43 SCARAB Questions
i dont know because sometime you can find some good deals then other times people think the stuffs made of gold...i would not put anything under a xz or xr in that heavy of a boat. if its the one im thinking of it is a little lighter, so that helps, as for the speed with brovos and 650 mid 60 should be a no brainer, thur about any water
