Angry How Many Boaters Are Paying Highway Use Tax On There Gas

I would like to know how many states are making us pay HIGHWAY USE TAX on the boats that we don't drive on the road. I know some states give you the money back on your taxes at the end of the year, but not here in Michigan. I think it is time for us to get together and try and do something about it.

Same in Fl.
We can't get back our hiway tax either! And I buy gas 90 % or our boat gas @ gas stations and haul it down to the dock.

We fill the boat up on the trailer at the gas station, and I never thought about it. Good luck getting it back in MI while Jennifer Granholm is in office she is taxing everthing, we even have to pay some type of pull ahead tax on our home. I believe we have some of the highest gas taxes in the states, yet some of the worst roads

In Texas we can file for a refund. Last year I got back a little over $100!

Any Idea what we can do about it? I know if you buy it on the water at the marinas you don't pay the HWY. use tax, but it still cost more the at the gas stations on land. I think now would be a good time to get something started because everyone is pi$$ed at the price of gas. (Born to boat, Taxed to death). JB

Maybe we should take Jennifer Granholm out in the middle of Lake Huron and tell her if she gets rid of the gas tax we will give her a ride back to the good ol USA or otherwise she can swim back to Canada.

In Virginia we pay the highway use tax even at the marina's. BUT via the DMV website, we download a form that we send in along with the gas receipts showing marina location and number of gallons, and they in turn refund us 0.17 cents per gallon. Makes for a nice little check at the end of summer.
