ID of Merlin engine blocks

I posted this over in the Tech section yesterday with no response so I thought I would try it here. I have two Merlin II used tall deck blocks from an engine purchase gone bad. World Products told me on the phone that they do not S/N these blocks. Today I got a chance to examine them and I found stamped on the bump out under the fuel pump pad, on the same surface as the pan rail. Both blocks had 81111 stamped closest to the rail with 2192 and 2182 stamped under the 81111. The #'s are about 1/2 or 5/8 in high and appear to be machine applied. Does any one know if this is in fact a WP S/N or perhaps these are a builders job#. Any helpful information would be appreciated. Joe Murray

Re: ID of Merlin engine blocks

I use to buy a lot of Merlin blocks and the 4 digit # was the serial # of the block and it also had the same #'s on the main caps. I now use the Dart blocks and they use the same # system.
