Bobby For all of you with 30-32' cats that can run 100 in 5 foot seas comfortably and safely I salute you. :drink: NK BTW 616-437-3852 |

Yes...I would say you would want no smaller than a 36 skater for those waves..The 32 would seem to be a little small in honest 5 footers at 100.

36 skater hp 500 110+ wll out run all v hulls with same power, regardless of the seas.
We laped team virgin in a 38 tg almost every race regardless of the waters. Laped not passed. Not sure on the 32, Im thinking of getting one myself. CM |

Had a 32 Skater, does well in 3's but 5's your pushing it. Make sure it has 6's and not bravos, your gonna be a bit flighty. I can tell ya this though, what a fun boat. I have a 36 Nor-tech now and for sure rides better in the rough. If your looking to mainly boat in the rough get into the 36 foot range. Hey, don't let the Nor-tech cabin scare ya.

Re: How Does a 32' Skater Handle?
Nauti Kitty, assuming the pictures of the outboard 32 cat is yours and comparing that to the I/O 38 cig is no comparison. The 32 O/B cat is a light boat that is very fast. The same boat with I/O power will handle the rough very well. In any case a 38 like the Cig will do well in rough water and probably better than a 32 Skater I/O or O/B. But a 36 Skater will kill that Cig in the same rough water. I have been to Poker Runs with my 35 Motion and marveled at why the V's were running so rough in 5' seas as I passed them. My wife has even asked after the run why do the other boats bounce so much?
My advise is go for a 36 Skater for the ocean. The 32 is bit small for big water. |
