Default Cleaning neglected aluminum wheels??

What product is good to clean neglected aluminum wheels. They have some corrosion and minor pitting. Basically left unattended for a couple years outside.

I have tried generic cleaners, like mothers, and Flitz.
Is there an acid that i could use?? I have heard people talk about dipping them, but what do they dip them in? Any help is appreciated.

I have a set of Boyd Coddington wheels on my van that need some cleaning. I e-mailed Coddingtons shop asking what cleaner they use without damaging the wheel. They sent me a link for a company. Said they only use this stuff. Have not tried it yet myself but here you go.

I use Muriatic acid, Cut about 50% w/ water brush it some or just let it sit a couple of minutes, then hose off b4 it dries. If the wheels are real bad use a slightly stronger mix or simply re- apply the previously mentioned mix.Enjoy a beer, a woman,or fix something else with the time you saved.

Any hardware will have the Muriatic Acid. Be careful not to get it on concrete, asphalt or any unpainted areas of the trailer. That stuff is pretty caustic.

This stuff works great on machined aluminum wheels. It's a strong etching acid mixture that requires a polish after use.

If the clear coat is already gone, then I would use semi-chrome, a 25,000 rpm die grinder and a 2" buffing ball and turn them into mirrors.
