Replacing K-plane indicator cable ?

Replacing K-plane indicator cable ?
I ordered the correct cable and it should be here on Wed. It is the longer cable (port side). It broke outside the boat at the tab.
Are there any tricks to installing this? What are the chances of being able to duct tape the ends together at the transom, and pulling the old one out from behind the dash...and having the new one rig itself into place????
Also, i thought i heard the conection to the indicator is spring loaded somehow ?

Your cable will have a number on it. something like this.....
032377-003-288 where the "288" is the length in INCHES. I ordered mine from here. Was the cheapest place i found it ($36.00 for a 24ft cable).

for pull the new cable, you can use the tape method but sometimes it does not work. They make a coupling that connects the new and old cable to put it thru. Should be available at west marine

Re: Replacing K-plane indicator cable ?
Just did mine a couple weeks ago I duct taped them together and used some petrolium jelly and lubricated the out side to make it eaiser to slide by the rest of the cables in the tube.
Worked just fine

When your into the indicator end up by the dash...do yourself a favor and lay a big towell under everything. They are spring loaded & can be a pain in the azz. You may want to order an extra couple of pointers & springs. Just in case.
