575sc Questions
Hi Everyone,
I have spent the last 2 hours looking over past threads, and have not found EXACTLY what I was looking for, so here is my post . My last boat was a 2000 33' Baja Outlaw with 502EFI's... That is the largest motor I have ever owned in a boat, but I am now looking to get back into the boating scene and am looking at some larger motors... Currently looking at a 2002 Donzi 33ZX Daytona with 575Sc's with XR drives... The boat currently has between 150 and 200 hours (seller wasn't positive, should know tomorrow).
My Questions:
1. What are some differences I may notice when going from the smaller 502's to the 575's (Besides being a hell of a lot faster )
2. What type of regular service do the 575's require?
3. How often do they require this service?
4. And how much will this cost??
5. Any known problems with the 575's and XR's on a boat with the weight of a 33ZX??
6. Since this boat does have 150+ hours, what type of maintence will they need at this point...
Sorry for all the questions guys!! Just trying to make sure I know what I am getting into with the larger non-efi s/ced motors!! I have been a frequent lurker waiting to sell my car to buy a new boat... Looks like that is happening in the next week or so, TIME TO GET SERIOUS!!
Thanks again,
Evan

throttle body injection, no big deal
2. What type of regular service do the 575's require?
change fluids/filters every 20
3. How often do they require this service?
see above
4. And how much will this cost??
that will vary greatly depending on who is doing it....
5. Any known problems with the 575's and XR's on a boat with the weight of a 33ZX??
none more than the usual bravo based problems, just don't nail it out of the hole....

The owners manual should outline the routine maint.
Change the oil/filter often, at least every 20 hours.
Change the outdrive lube at least every 50 hours.
If those motors are in the 150-200 hr range they could like be at or approaching the point they will need to top ends gone through.
Others will chime in with their experiences.

I had a feeling that at the hours they are at, they would need some attention which was really my main question! What does a topend rebuild involve (esp. cost??).
Thanks!!
