Dyno results at Crockett Marine
Finally got my motor on Crocketts dyno and here are my results. 540 procharged m-3,afr 315 cnc's,hyd roller cam spec'd by RM BUILDER(bob madera) 233/240 at .050,modified stock 502 plenum and intake,92 octane gas. Pretty much made 940 hp/940 ft lbs torque at peaks, nice 11.4-11.6 air fuel ratios(not some lean mixture that can't really be held wide open!)He was impressed for blowing thru a aw504 innercooler, stock plenum and modified intake! We had problems holding enough fuel pressure using single essex fuel pump(couldn't pull above 4800 without adding a carb type pump feeding efi pump as a booster). Tyler did a great job programming stock mefi3 ecm and worked hard at whole dyno session. He told me before i left that he's NEVER seen more than low 800's blowing thru 502 mpi efi plenum and factory intake with a procharger or whipple! Re: Dyno results at Crockett Marine
Crocketts printer doesn't show boost, you have to sorta watch it on a gauge on control panel ( after all ,he IS in ruby michigan!). I used the same 3.85 dia upper pulley that i been running for last two years,i expected manifold boost to drop from the better flowing heads but it read around 9-10 psi which was what i always saw in the boat with old heads and parts.

Re: Dyno results at Crockett Marine
With the combination of parts i used everyone agreed it should make 950 BUT i was skeptical and went to dyno thinking i'd be glad to see 800 plus! The first pull after Crockett set up fuel tables was to 4800 rpm's,when the printer kicked out sheet showing we made almost 850 hp and over 900 ftlbs of torque on a 4800 rpm pull it started getting real interesting! Here is a graph of the corrected hp/tq, If you look on bottom left you'll see the corrected peak numbers,944 hp/962 ft lbs torque,Smitty

Re: Dyno results at Crockett Marine
I have 2 drives, both are max machine worx with every upgrade, one is my spare . I will try running one with a 32 pitch here in a few weeks. The boat went 85 mph last year with the same short block and merlin heads at around 725 estimated hp. If i break a drive instantly then de-tuning the motor comes next,(i'll put a 4.00 inch boost pulley on). The boat could actually run about 100 mph(2000 baja 272) which sorta scares me! Smitty

Another thing is crockett's dyno uses cmi boat headers,NOT car/dyno headers that are going to give you artificially high numbers.

Re: Dyno results at Crockett Marine
When we were all done fine tuning my pump gas pulley setup we put my 3.70 dia pulley on,mixed some 110 w/the pump gas,put colder plugs in and made a pull expecting to break a thousand but it only raised the hp/tq about 20 so something became a limiting factor or the gain was limited because of the extra octane, not really sure. Tyler had to pull the wide band o2 sensors out because of the lead in the race gas so we couldn't look at our a/f's either so we quit while we were ahead
