Question Engine oil drain hose to bilge plug, anyone sell them??

I'm having my port motor pulled for new coupler repair and I thought it would be a good idea to install an oil drain tube to the bilge plug rather than having to suck it out through the dipstick, does anyone sell something like that? Does Merc have anything??

It's a 1994 454 mag.

Thanks!

And once installed, how do you get the hoses through the drain plug. I know there is no way of getting under the engines to push them through!!!

Thanks in advance for your comments!!!

Thanks Too Old!!!! I'm going to call the shop that currently has my boat to discuss... now I know where to order them if needed!!!!

Guess i could always run hoses forward of motors and empty into a pan, still easier than the dammed dipstick setup!!!

Run up hose up to the top of the engine compartment in a convenient spot and secure it. You can then put your pump out tube in the hose . Depending on the size of the outlet side of the hose, you may be able to secure it with a chain attached to your drain plug with a screw and eyelet and pull it out of your drain opening.

Be carefull on the ones you order.
I ordered a pair from a place I will not name and they do not fit through the drain plug hole
Then after wanting to order teh Merc style people was telling me the Merc hose is so small that it takes hours for the oil to drain, even warm.
They wished they went with the larger hose that I have.
I have not installed mine yet, will at the next oil change.
Just words for thought

also, the stock merc units have a chain that attatches to the end of hte hose and the drain plug itself.
Does two things, lets you NEVER loose the drain plug and also allows you to pull the oil drain hose through
It is a slick setup, just heard the draining takes along time

My shop told me to stay away from the merc units as well. I was going to order them from Too Old, but then I stopped by the shop yesterday to discuss the work on my boat as they have the starboard engine out. My boat has two big bilge pumps and they are mounted right up against the drain plug area, can't see any way of getting the hoses past them to the bilge hole, so unfortunately I'm going without them.

Actually, you can still go with the hoses.
It is better then sucking the oil out hte dip stick
Stick way you will not get all the oil out.
The drain hoses, yu will.
Just still need to hook up a pump at the hose.
I used this method on my last two v-drive an jet boats
Worked great.
Just use a hanger to keep it from falling down in the bilge.

I'm certainly not a expert but I've heard other people say you can get all the oil out with a pump, I've been using them for years. So I used it to suck the oil out of my vette and then pulled the plug, about 2 tablespoons of oil came out. I know this is not proof it does this on every engine but I'll keep using it. When you cut the tube at the right angle and it hits the bottom of the pan you can actually here it sucking the bottom of the pan dry. You can even make it quit sucking by pushing it against the pan to hard. The key is get the oil hot and the right angle on the tube. I have a couple of cars with the oil filter on top of the engine it would be hard to get me to crawl under them now especially my sons BMW with 165,000 miles on it, apparently it has worked on it. just my opinion. BY the way the BMW might use a guart every 5 thousand miles.
