Hooking up trim indicator
I'm trying to hook up my drive indicator. Wired the guage as follows: Ignition switch to "I" terminal. Lights to "L" terminal, ground to ground, one wire from the sender to the "S" terminal. What does the other wire from the sender go to?

Re: Hooking up trim indicator
I just wired mine and the gauge only required one wire from the sender. The other wire I believe should be grounded. Ultimatly the gauge just measures resistance across that circuit.

Re: Hooking up trim indicator
I hooked up 1 wire to the guage, the other I grounded and the guage pinned to the full down position and doesn't move when raising or lowering the drive. If I disconnect the grounded wire it pins to the full up position.

Re: Hooking up trim indicator
Try switching the ground and trim wire and see if that works.
If not I would check the sending unit (puck on starboard side of drive) with a multimeter. You should be able to hook up the meter to each wire coming off of the puck, loosen the screws on the puck and twist it. As you rotate the puck the resistance should change. If not, it is possible that the sending unit is corroded or bad.
I fought a similar problem on mine before discovering that it was wired wrong. I ran new wires from the gauge to the sending unit and bypassed whatever the previoius owner had going on.
Good luck.
