Default another outing...another challenge

Went out again and noticed a grinding noise when shifting into forward or reverse. From the drivers seat, it sounds like it is coming from beneath the drivers seat but that's not possible.

I tried opening the hatch and listening for it in the engine compartment but couldn't really hear it. you can feel it more than anything. I haven't noticed any difference in performance or fluids leaking, so figured I would post this for hints on where to start looking.

thanx.

Any noise while driving or just when shifting?

Badkachina, I noticed it the most when I first put in gear. then the headers drown out the sound so it's hard to tell. read a thread about the shifter cable or shifter mechanism might need adjusting?

Tech,
if you can reach the top of the drive, have someone shift it for you and feel the top cap. Do you feel any vibrations there.
If it is a cable issue, try shifting it at the bracket with the shifter cable (to the front) disconnected. That can tell you alot..

Mr Gadgets,
I worked on the cables up to the shifter plate, greased each of these and had my Son move from forward to neutral to reverse and back again.

Seemed that when I moved the cable 2 or 3 ft back from the shifter plate, it would work smoother in reverse or forward but not both. Tried to adjust the cables at the shifter, but this didn't help much either.

In the thread, "Bravo 1 Shifting problems", many of the same problems he is having is probably similar to what I should be looking at as well.

you refer to the "black cap"...is this the rectangle plate with a "1" next to it in the picture?

thanx.
