Dave doesn't do transoms.

I was thinking about a different guy.

Can't argue with TwinStep. Gotta keep those assys tight.

Dam. I feel like waterfoul already. Boatless.
I am going to be the official OSO 2005 ride wrangler.

Well Fund, I am sorry to hear about your situation. I don't know who you may have do the work, but please make sure you work out the contract right and the number is fair. My guys have done lots of these and other fiberglass work so if you need a second opinion (or shoulder to cry on) I'm here.

As for boating, why don't you run the paceboat with me at the Fountain SBI Grand Prix this August? Call me if you need anything.

But I know that in many cases your caution is dead on.

But I can't sell the boat how it is (A: Bad Karma, B: won't pass a survey, C: Bad Karma.)

I need to fix it to protect my investment. Yeah, I know that a boat is a bad investment, but you know what I mean.

I would prefer to sell it and buy Rob's Formula. But I would have to really find a newbie and screw 'em. Don't wanna.

I guess that I would rather de-rig and re-rig my whole boat than give somebody the shaft. Especially on a boat deal. Somehow boat deals have extra karma.
I agree

Hmmmm, I got a nice big white ride for you too Fund No sense in stopping at 31, might as well head right for 40

Even Rob could see the logic in that

A) I made my bed when I bought that boat. It is a big drag, but it's hard to cry about it and keep my Powerboatman status.
Gonna try to make the best of it. Maybe hook it to the back of the truck and hang out in parking lots way away from the lake. Land Yacht.

B) Done and Done. I'm in. Got some vaca days coming.
Thanks.

Yeah... he has a 42 sitting next to it right now.

Rumor has it that you spiffed that old 40 up a bit since you got it. I love the 311s, but that 40 is the king of phat. Fricking Condo wrapped up like a speedboat.

Something about being poor is holding me back.
Couple more years...

Good thing I didn't cry.

Looks like I may not be quite so screwed.

I will know soon. Whoo-hoo.

I have been reading about a few people on the board here having problems with their transoms being rotten and it sounds like they are going to miss the whole season so may i suggest a way to rig it to get you by for the summer.

The first time i discovered a problem like this was early in the season during the height of parasail season on my parasail boat.My quick fix is i had a sheet of 3/16 stainless cut to the shape of the transom ,all the way down to the edge of the vee,and had the holes cut for the transom assembly.( not a big deal if you can find a metal guy with a plasma cutter)

Remove the motor and transom assembly and put the metal plate on the outside of the transom and reinstall the transom assembly and engine.I did mine in one day and it lasted till the end of season when i had time to properly fix it.I was running a 454 and a bravo 2 so there was a lot of torque and pressure on the transom and it held up fine.A parasail boat pulling a parasail can have about 3000 pds of tension on the line at any given time.Just a suggestion .

Note to self: Never take the dealer's word for anything.

The problem was a bad Y-pipe fitting.

Granted... it was difficult to see and repair without removing the engine.
(Engine had to come out)

But the guy who declared "bad transom" was just tired of diagnosing the boat.

The boat has been in the water since Saturday, has been run about 4 hours. No leaks.

Thanks OSO member Tizbad4 for helping a brother out.
