I have a set of 4.530 on hand but the twin engine is at 4.535. Given that these are blown 1200 hp I thought that it might be wise to match the size as the difference in cubic inches relates to about twenty horse or a bit less. Does anyone have an opinion on whether I need to try and match up this closely?

I would me more concerned with piston to wall clearence
rather then HP difference. I rebuilt one of my engines last
year. Punching it up to 4.530 while the other is still at
4.5 flat. 10lbs boost intercooled. no noticible difference while operating.
My finished bore sizes are 4.530 piston size is 4.522
4.500 on other engine with 4.492 piston size.
I run Ross Blower pistons with a overall average of
8 to 10 thousands per hole.
I beleave JE allows for tighter clearance it depends on the
Alumminum used and silicon in it.
Get a set which will allow the proper (JE recomended)
piston to wall clearence.
As far as difference in the boat you wont even feel it.

thank you for the info on power. you had thirty thou diff. and didnt feel it or see it on the tach I presume, I sure wont see five thou dif. then
As far as clearances go, ileave it to my builder. I have run JE in blower engines for years with no trouble, blow by or scuffing. They use a low silicon alloy these days, unlike the past and dont swell much once warm.
I will live with what I have for this overhaul.

I will talk to my engine guys tomorrow. I called JE and they didnt tell me about that. Do you think I have to worry about 5 thou? It doesnt seem to matter to the other guys on here who have run sligtly different bores. I wouldnt normaly run an odd bore but The pistons were already ordered and in my shop.
Thanks
