Default thunderbolt V ignition sensor

Is there a simple DC test to determine functionality of the hall-effect sensor in the thunderbolt V distributor? I followed troubleshooting guide to "replace ingnition sensor" and I think the one I ourchased may also be bad. Any ideas?
