With this stuff you better be changing it every 20 hours...because it has to be changed at least that frequent.

If for no other reason it looks good on the engine...

What is ZDDP, does Merc 25/40 have it? What about Pnzl 40 wt.Ill take back the Mbl1 15/50 if the 20/50 is that much better. Does mixing 20/50 vtwn with .5 qts of dino 40wt matter at change?

Zinc and Phosphorous..high pressue agents that take over when parts squeeze the oil out....they are all that's left between the metal surfaces.

OK, I participated in a Poker Run last weekend and was able to record some oil data from both motors at cruising speeds.
Port Motor:
3100 r.p.m.'s oil pres. 39 lbs.
oil temp. 185
water temp. 170

Starboard motor:
3100 r.p.m.'s oil pres. 55 lbs.
oil temp. 185
water temp. 165 degrees

At 4200 r.p.m.'s both motors were at 210 degrees oil temp..
With the Mercury oil they never went over 200 degrees. I ended up going back to the Mercury oil filter for now. I plan to change the plumbing in the future so I can use a taller filter and go to the Mercury HP filter. The oil pressure and temperature are not alarming but they are still higher temperatures and a little less oil pressure than I was experiencing with the 25W40 Mercury oil. Again, I was expecting just the opposite.

I changed to V-Twin this year after reading about it here. I can report that my oil pressure at anything above an idle went from 45 lbs to 55 lbs. Where before the oil temp would go to 250* after a hard run with M1 15W50, it now stays below 240*. Before, when idleing down with oil temp above 230* the oil pressure would be 10psi. It is now staying at 25psi at idle.

Everything good I have read about this oil seems to be proving to be true for me. I am very pleased and am recommending V-Twin to all my boating friends.

My friend Spencer just had both of his 550+hp 509's disassembled, after dropping a valve seat on one motor (reversion). They had a little over 200 hours on them, run pretty hard.

The machine shop reported perfect bearings and bores, like new in fact. The oil performed FLAWLESSLY, and protected his engines up to 5200 rpm for some looong runs in 100 degree south Texas heat. Temps ran 210-230, pressures normal. He changed his oil and filters every 25 hours.

His oil... Kendall 40wt.
