Whipple
We have a 2000 454MAG with 150 hours. We are thinking about putting a Whipple Supercharger on it this winter. Anyone out there running a Whipple on a stock MAG motor? Can you Whipple an engine with 150 hours? What will this do to engine life? We are currently running a 23P three blade prop behind a 25 deep V (no step). What prop would you recommend with an additional 150 horsepower? What is included with the Whipple kit? Is there other necessary mods. to be made to the motor besides what's included in the kit? Can you keep the Captain's Choice exhaust with the Whipple? Any insight would be appreciated.

I put a Whipple on a 502 mag with 200 hours - no problems still running with another owner 3 years later. Motor will be fine as long as it has been well maintained. You will need to change oil every 20-25 hrs after the SC install. If you don't get stupid with the boost and don't run it full throttle for long periods of time it will last a long time. Get rid of the three blade it won't hook up with all the torque - try a 26 Bravo maybe even a 28. You can keep the CC exhaust just don't run the boat over about 2500-3000 rpm with it on, better yet just use it in idle situations. You'll love the sound of the Whipple.
