help with old merc eggbeater, T2x ? anyone
hey i just bought a 16ft POS baha with a old 1982 merc 115hp 6 cyl. i think i need the ignition moduole box. merc pn 332 7778 A 1 not sure about the 1 as i can barely read the #, 332 7778 is cast in the back of the part. how does the ign work on this model? is there a flying magnet as part if the ign pick up on the flywheel? then that signal is sent to the module that in turn sends the signal to the coil? i swapped wires to the coils that were not firing and they fired. it seems that no signal is going from the module to the coil on # 3 and #5. so either the module is not getting signal from the pick up or the module is bad both cyls that dont fire get signal from the same module. the other module does the other three cylinders. i just want to get it running so i can prop dredge the mouth of my canal and get my cigarette boat in behind my house. thanks for any help you can give, dont have a manual so am a bit in the dark. ratman

the stator sends current to the box and the triggers send a signal or bait current to release the primary current from the box to the coil. rule of thumb stator output should be 100+ volts triggers .7+ volts and the box should send 100+ volts to the coils. go to mercurymarine.com with that numbe should be able to superceed it there #3 + #5 sounds like trigger to me
