Teague Platinum 1.36 or Bravo 1 XR 1.50?
Teague Platinum or XR Upgrade……
Small boat, 21’ Hallett 210, 2700lbs. Currently having a na 496 motor built, looking at 625-675 hp, spinning at 5,200-5,500. Guestimating 85-90mph.
I can get a smoking deal on a Teague Platinum with 1.36 gearing, or I can go with another great deal on a Bravo 1 XR Upper upgrade in whatever ratio I choose; 1.5, 1.36, or 1.25..
I know nothing about 1.36 gearing, but damn, the Teague drive deal is just too good to pass up.
As I said, I’m clueless about 1.36 gearing……pro’s or con’s, and what pitch prop to start with?
And if you have any hydraulic steering components lying around, or know of anybody getting rid of a system, please let me know.
Thanks in advance

The 1.36 will run about 5mph slower, I learned this the hard way. Go with the 1.5
I have a fresh 1.5 XR sportmaster in parts swap if your interested.

I validate what zt260 said. I have 1.36 gears and I am nowhere close to what I should be. It jumps out of the hole but it will hurt you on the top end. Top end is what we all strive for right??

1.36 gears should only be used when you run out of prop.
30-32 seem to be the most efficient pitch props, if you need much more than that go to 1.36 gears.

This sux, if I have to redo the gears to 1.50 it will take the value out of the smoking deal.
Back to my research.....
