Remote oil filter ?

Has anyone come up with a better remote that the filter is right side up instead of upside down.tired of cleaning the bilge everytime i change the oil on the 525's.

Re: Remote oil filter ?

Rich, poke a hole in the top bottom of the filter, and let it drain down, then pump out the oil, no fuss no muss.easy to keep it clean then

Thumbs up Re: Remote oil filter ?

Like Offshore Drillin said, after you punch the hole in the "bottom" of the filter, loosen it up a little and let it vent. I usually let this happen the whole time I am sucking the oil out and putting the new oil in. By that time its usually empty enough to not make a mess. Just make sure when you punch the hole that you go about 4" deep into the filter. Also put a raga round the bottom and you should be golden.

just loosen it untill you hear air coming out then let it drain for a couple of minutes , just keep a rag handy,or just use your diaper :

Re: Remote oil filter ?

I have a large sharpened screwdriver for the task. Make sure you pop the hole in there with the screwdriver and hammer, and do not drill a hole.

P.S. John/Pwrbt33 taught me this trick.

Re: Remote oil filter ?

Or you can always do it the right way,,,go into any of your stock car magizines(Circle Track) etc and order a remote filter setup and mount it where it suits you...Personally mounted an Oberg cleanable filter setup in my 24ft DCB I cad back in 99.

Re: Remote oil filter ?

Oberg filters are cool items as you can see metal bits and catch problems early!

Re: Remote oil filter ?

After loosening the filter,I remove two 5/16 screws from the oil filter mount and turn everything over. Then I put a baggy over the filter and unscrew it. I lost about three drops of oil doing it this way last time.
