Holley 4150 questions
Guys need some help here. I am running rich and dumping gas in the exhaust when at idle. I think I may have blown my power valves if possible on this carb. Holley claims it has power valve protection.
1.How do I check them (PV) ?
2.Should there be so much black residue? doubt it!
3.When I hold my hands of the J vents at idle motor runs fine could I have a bad gasket?
4.When I cover the carb to creat a vacume I see gas dripping at the arrow in the pic?? Is that right?
Any help with these issues would be appreciated

Re: Holley 4150 questions
Check your float levels. If gas is dripping from the primaries at idle, that could be the problem.
Check your idle air screws. If they have little effect on idle speed, it may be a blown power valve. If not, it may just be the idle screws that need adjusting.
Just replace the power valve. It only takes 5 min. Yours is probably a 6.5, but check markings on it.
Be sure the 4 screws that hold the float bowl on have the gaskets. Use the blue metering block gaskets. While your there, replace the accelerator pump diaphram if it's more than 3 years old.

Re: Holley 4150 questions
"Mr. Andersen" matrix
Thanks will do.
The idle air screws are the 4 screws on each side?
The power valves are just inside the bowls right? When I pull the bowls off they will be right there.
Not sure where the accelerator pump diaphram is?
Sorry for the ignorance
Should most auto parts store carry these gaskets and valves?
Thanks will do.

There is one screw on each side of the primary metering block. Start about 1 1/4 turn out. Tune for max vacuum at idle.
Not sure if yours has idle screws on the secondary metering block.

Remove the 4 screws holding the primary bowl on. Remove the primary block. Replace the power valve and gasket screwed into the block. Replace both primary block gaskets with blue reusable ones. Replace the sight plugs with clear ones while your at it. Gas should be at bottom of plug. If too high, gas will drip. Adjust the nut/screw on the needle valves to get it there. Clean the needle and seat with carb cleaner as long as its apart.

It's held on the bottom of the primary bowl by screws. There are 2 sizes 30 and 50 (I think). Just take the old one with you. I've seen too many of these crack resulting in a fire.

Advance, Auto Zone, Napa, probably everywhere.[/QUOTE]
