Default Stuck in reverse

I was docking the boat, I slipped it into reverse and the engine died... I can't get it out of reverse to start the engine..

I tried to hand spin the prop.... won't budge

Is there a way to bypass the neutral safety switch to bump the stater?

Any other ideas..??

Thanks

Frank

The neutral switches are located on the shifters. Take the 4 screws loose that hold the shifters down and jump across the wires on the switch.

Well, yeah; But do you really want it to fire up while backing up? I assume you want to do this while on the trailer. If not; I would suggest that. --- Jer

I would suggest bumping the starter by jumping a screwdriver blade across the starter terminals, but most people won't do that because of gas fumes in the bilge, sparks, BOOM, etc. So, get one of those remote starter switches. You know, the one with the alligator clip leads, and the nice button on the end. Real cheap at most auto parts stores. Connect that to your starter, and this way you can bump it while working the shift lever with the ignition off.

Why don't they come up with a simple over-ride switch next to the control that would also kill the ignition?

I have left a Bravo in gear a few times. If there is enough play in the control you can get it to spin over, but I was thinking of some kind of hold in override button that would also kill the ignition. Probably harder to set up than it sounds. Just a thought.

Dah, not thinking it through. Just connect a switch like the remote starter switch. Thanks.
