There was claims that the 25 Nordic will do 82 with a 496HO. Sounds hard to believe. 75 sounds very possible though.

As far as the mag article, 77.2 with a 26P @5000 rpms equates to approx. 6% slip. I need to send my prop to whoever labbed that one!
Dave M,

Thanks for bringing this thread to my attention. 82 mph sounds ludicrous for a 496HO Rage. I want what he is smoking!

As part of a supercharger comparison, Power Boat magazine did before and after tests on the Nordic Rage. I think that this was sometime in 2003. I believe the boat ran right around 75 mph +/- on the stock 496mag HO engine at about 600 feet in elavation. The article made no mention of open or closed bow though.

More grist for the mill! I am off to track down this article as well. Any idea what month's issue in 2003?

I have the issue at home, I'll look it up and post it later.

The issue I'm referring to is April 2003 in an article titled "Forced Induction". The stock 496mag HO in the Rage was turning a 26" bravo1 though 1:5 gears. The test was at an altitude of 250 feet and the temp was 65 degrees. The reported top speed was 75.9 mph at 4950 rpm's. I believe that calculates out to be about a 6% slip. On my Rage with the 496mag HO at an altitude of 5200 feet and about 70 degrees I was running a max of 65 mph (gps) with a 24" inch bravo1 through a 1.65 gear set at 5000 rpm's. That also calculates out to be about a 6% slip. My boat is the closed bow model.

The December 2000 issue of Powerboat Magazine contained an article "Major Rager" on the 25' Rage. With Bob Teague as the driver, the reported speed was 75.6 on radar and 77.2 on gps. ?????? This test was in Parker, Ariz. and the boat was running a labbed 26" bravo1 through 1.5 gears.

Hope that helps.

Yes, it helps a lot!

Was the 2003 test 26P prop stock or labbed?

Thanks!

That article did not say if the prop was labbed or not.
