From what ive read the 7.4L has weak internals & a sc may not be most reliable option. i have same engine & saving my nickels for a 502 to replace it.
Upgrade your fuel system and oil cooler .Arp rod bolts , upgrade valves. We ran 5 psi for 3 seasons prior to removing blower to sell the boat easier.
The new owner ran the boat over a pile of rocks first time out!![]()
You are on the right track. You also need to put in inconel exhaust valves.
I did this in my old boat. ran a 174 B&M at 5lbs boost. made 560 hp on the dyno. With the small blower the boat idled like it was stock.
Oh yea, i used my stock fuel system and stock oil cooler. Just be sure to get fuel press and boost gauges to keep an eye on things.
Want to trade? Bro in law needs a new 330hp in his cruiser:Originally Posted by HiPerf2000

To build a motor with a crank rods heads and blower is going to be 15k. I have a 540 that made 625@5750 for 6k. Only has 22hrs on it. This should rocket a 24 baja over 80.
Sutphen30, are the blowers the polished 172's or the powdercoated black ones? I'm asking because I am looking for one to purchase asap. Port blower ate a piece of the flame arrestor.
