Black Smoke Getting on Plane
Maybe you all can give me a hand with this.
Just completed major overhaul with my 502's.
They seem to be running ok, except when I power up onto plane.
I am getting black smoke out of the starboard engine.
It feels like it is loading up too, so I am reasonably certain it is a carburetor issue, but what would cause this????
I am running the HP 500 carbs, all rebuilt and MSD ignition.
Any clues where to start looking?
Thanks,
Scott

Easiest way take flame arrestor off and look in hte carb when it's idling and if you have fuel coming from the boosters you can have any of the conditions above high float is the easy fix power valves can sometimes be replaced with the wrong number when guys go through the carbs and don't pay attention .Good luck
