Thinking of putting 383 sbc together formy 206 rinker.I bought bottom end from friend needing$$$.I'm looking for some ideas for cams, heads, intake, and such.Need to make totally reliable as I often venture off on day trips that could be 100 mile round trip.I was thinking around 300-325hp Boat has 305 with alpha,it runs mid 50s, was looking to hit mid 60s.every now and then. Most running is 25-30 and also use for wakeboading ,ski sometimes.Let me know what you think.

There's a few guys with real stout strokers in front of alphas, and some real good threads already on this subject! Do a search on the topic, and your sure to find more info than you can handle!

It's going to be tough to build a 383 to 325 HP. They are still Small Block Chevy's but with "BIG BALLS"

This response may not be exactly related to boats but I would like to share it with you. I installed a GM Performance Parts 383 crate engine in my 93 Suburban a couple of years ago. It was so impressive that it inspired me to build a 496 stroker motor for my 24 Outlaw that I am also very pleased with. Now I am considering turning my 88ci Harley into stroked 103ci. As we all know.....there is no replacement for displacement. I am sold on stroker setups. Gobs of torque on tap feels great when towing, boating or riding.

I was sent the build sheet with my crate engine. After viewing all of the parts it looks to me like this would make a great boat engine. If interested in it is labeled a HT383. Specs are 340HP 430ft lbs of tourqe.

Hey I built a 383 for my 77 suburban a few years ago. Some serious power for a 5720 pound vehicle. I'll be be building one for my boat when the 350 gets tired or when I get tired of waiting. I'll be bolting it to an alpha II gen 1. I figure I can buy 3 alpha's for the cost of conversion to bravo 1.
