Carb help?
Any body have help for 525sc carb 4150 Holley dominater 1050 #mercury part 822386 carb kit is like $275 does the automotive kit for the 4150 have same parts for $40 ? choke # is 12r8795b I had the boat sit for about 5 weeks battery died on starboard engine wouldnt fire went to get winterized and my mechanic has moved on. The new guy said carbs bad loading engine up with fuel changed plugs then said no spark changed ignition module. Says motor full of fuel need carb kit
I had him change the oil to get fuel out thought moter ran to get winterized. he said wont start with the carb just keeps fouling plugs. wants to dran plugs from block and no fogging the moter or turning over to lubriciate the inside, I belive this is trouble to sit this way for the winter. Need help on carb kit to get moter running Any help?

The first thing I would check si the fuel pump, it has a hsoe hat runs to the flame arrestor or carb that direct fuel there in the even that the diaphram ruptures, more times then not you will find the voer fueling problem here not the carb.

It really doesn't sound like the mechanic really checked out the problem or he doesn't know what he doing. Its not that difficult of a problem to track down.
Did he check the fuel bowl levels????? You could also have something stuck in the needle seat assembly that is allowing a fuel bowl to overflow.
Chances are that if the fuel bowl levels are where they should be, then you've got a blown powervalve. Its an $8 part + $10 in gaskets.
BTW the Holley gasket part #'s are 108-83-2 for the bowl and 108-89-2 for the metering block. It uses a 6.5 powervalve on both sides.
I really doubt you need to have the entire carb rebuilt.
Another thing is that if the boat is sitting on a slope and pointing downhill, it will change the angle of the engine and fuel bowls. One of the bowls will overfill and bleed into the carb causing a rich condition.

First, get a new mechanic. Second buy a set of bowl & metering block gaskets, a pair of N&S, and a PV's. Take the carb apart, spray out all of the orifices in the metering blocks, and main body with some carburetor cleaner, and compressed air and put her back together.

Is there such a thing as a 4150 Series 1050 Dominator?
I thought 1050 Dominators were 4500 Series carbs.

All good advise above.
All gaskets, needle and seat, power valves are the same between marine and automotive. You can probably get the kit for about the same price as the parts listed. And it will include new pump diaphrams. Good idea to change these too while it's apart.
BTW, Holleys are known for lodging "gunk" in the needle valve causing it to flood. Check that first and change your fuel filter/fuel water separators too.
Oh yeah, get a new mechanic.
