What fuel/water filters would you guys recommend?
Now that these 1984 454's have been totally rebuild and I've got past the popping problem, (wires, cracked plug and new fuel pumps solved all that) I'm beginning to wonder about the fuel/water separators. The boat (a 1984 Sonic) came with these "Tempo MF-10" filters on it. Any good? What is everyone else running for water/fuel separators?

water fuel seperators
Can't speak for everyone else but I use a combo of Merc ( 1st inline ) water fuel seperator and RACOR ( after Merc ) for fine fuel filtering. The RACOR also does water seperating and has a drain plug. I don't think that combination can be beat.

Racor period. No ifs, and or butts, the best filter on the market. We use then extensively (over 400 pieces of equipment) and they work great. Use the Racor replacement elements only, the replacements do not work worht a darn.

Does anyone have any idea if Aquasana manufactures water filters for boats? I really have trusted their water filter in my house. Check out the link and let me know if it would work on a boat,

Check out Ramco @ ramcoperformance.com. These guys are a behind the scenes OEM supplier for major boat builders and engine builders and also heavily involved with various racing activities. Very highly engineered/functional stuff at a fair price.

Is this Fram filter a direct replacement for the Mercruiser water seperating fuel filter that screws on to the engine? If not how did you mount it?
Thanks!

Guys, quit looking around and get RACOR water seperator/fuel filters. They are the undisputed best at what they do in the marine world and other. Their track record is undisputable, period. It's a no brainer. They're sold all over, even at Boater's World.

The Racor setups I looked at didn't flow enough for a blower motor. Ended up with a new filter base from Eddie Marine with bigger fittings and the big Fram.
