I guess it depends on what your really want and how much you want to spend .How much power do you think you have now?

How much faster do you want to go?

Stroking ,heads, cams, may not be enough? Also I would say you will start breaking drives .Stroking it will make more TQ than the others and theres your drives again

I built a 460ci chevy for my old Scarab same as your bottom end with some merlin heads ported ,HDY roller ,8 71/ with innercooler and 2 gold claw 775's it made 762hp on the dyno.It was tuff on drives in a single engine boat .

So what do you really want???

ok..JJ....slowdown buddy!! I guess u expected more from your upgrades?? I would guess that you picked up no more then 25-30 hp with the coolers, but you added to the reliability considerably. Why would u "scrap" what you have.........at least use them hard till you kill them, then rebuild. You need to put more thought into what you really want. If you want to go "really fast" as you stated, then buy another boat. I had the same set-up as you and had new 460's built dyno @ 625hp. The boat now runs 80gps. I love the boat because of the size, handeling, ride and cabin....but to get into the mid to high 80's i would probably need another 100hp per side. Also, u will smoke your drives after adding more power...I upgraded the original Bravo's and ran them easy....grenaded my starboard drive @ 5,500...not a pretty sight! Had to purchase new XR's with -1" Imco shorties. Big $$ considering i thought i was done spending.

BTW...I kept my 177's( i love how they sound ), 1050 dom's, and original intakes. New everthing else except block. Bumped the comp to 8.25:1 with Dart iron eagle heads. MSD Ignition, Full roller, etc... Boost dropped down to 4lbs because of the free flowing heads even though we bumped the comp. I had to cut the stock pulleys down to get boost back to 6lbs.

I am very happy with the new motors (and drives), and I purposely had them built to be reliable, mild and last.

Ratmans idea sounds reasonable??

I can get you allt he specs for my motors if u want to build a similar set-up. Add Your coolers and u will have easy 650+hp. Nice flat torqe curve also.

Good luck....

Lee at LAB engine is no schlep either. I believe Ritchie Zul used to work for him years ago. Ritchie Zul is known as a premier engine builder hands down. Lab is also an awesome shop. They work with cutting edge engines. I was just over there and saw some amazing custom 12 cylinder all aluminum big block marine motors, that he's dyno'ing. Lee is a such a source of knowledge, and best of all he is willing to share what he has learned in over 45 years of building race motors with those who really want to know more. I learn things every time I visit the shop. I really don't know Ritchie Zul , But he must be very intelligent. I know Lee, And feel that he probably is the smartest man that I have ever met. Lab engine is located in Lindenhurst NY. 631 226 2234 BBB
