496 Exhaust
I'm thinking about ordering the Raylar heads, cam, intake kit for a 496. They say the motor will have about 525 HP when all is said and done.
I would like to change the stock exhaust, but I'm not sure I will be able to afford the CMI's, which is my first choice.
If I have to go with a new manifold, which one is the best? Stainless Marine, Gil, EMI, Imco...?

Re: 496 Exhaust
Ray says the stock exhaust works just fine and is a good unit. I believe he suggests sticking w/ stock.. unless you could afford the cmi's I would stick w/ stock, thinking of doing the same mods this winter...

Re: 496 Exhaust
Either Hotboat or Powerboat magazine did a test on the new CMI headers for the 496 and got a decent gain. Not sure how much gain you would get with your new package but, I would think headers over the stock units would flow and scavenge better.
