Default K E Oil Termostat

Does anyone know if these are actually manufactured by Keith Eickert or, are they just marketing them.

Are they actually manufactured by Hardin Marine or?

Thanks,
Bob

Bob,
We just installed these on my own boat and are very happy with them. We've been selling quite a bit of KE products and haven't had any quality complaints. Their customer service is great. If you have a question call Keith, not KE just Keith. He's always been able to get the right answer even if it doesn't make a sale.

Fionn,
Is that the one with or without the filter pad. I purchased an add on unit (without filter) and it never worked right. Oil would over heat and it took for ever for the oil to get to temp.. I took the it out and it quit over heating the oil..

I called and posted on KE page, but that must have been when Keith wasnt there.. I'll have to try again..

Dick,
These are the ones WITH filter pad. We installed them on Gen IV blocks. What gen are your motors? It makes a huge difference as the gen IVs' have the bypass in the filter pad assembly. We used the KE units because we wanted to get rid of the bypass to make sure we pump all the oil through the cooler all the time.

I have been using KE's buypases for 3-4 yrs on eng and trans oil and they work great. You need to make sure you plumb them correctly when you install though. His filter heads with the thermos are nice.

I am running a Merlin super tall deck block.. basically the Gen IV block. I hook up the unit per the diagram, which is very specific as to what goes where. I did mount it upside down, but that shouldnt (?) make a difference. I fought high oil temps for a couple of years and finally took it out, the problem went away. Havent had time to check into since then.

Thanks for the input guys, but I really would like to know who actually manufactured it.

Fred, I did a search on RM Enterprises and couldn't find anything.

I think the thermostat itself comes from a company here in Indiana. "Caltherm". K E must make the Housing and assemble it I guess.
