Rookie Driver-Also
Hey all, I just picked up a '76 Donzi X-18 w/ Chev350&TRS drive. I took it out for a shakedown run on a local lake with about 2ft wind-driven chop.
What is the proper way to make turns in a deep-vee hull while on a plane? I kept the throttle at the same 60% cruise setting while I came about. I didn't go for a tight turn as I didn't want to blow out or flip as I came parallel to the crests.
Any comments on trim or just steer up the wave face, ease off steering pressure as it passes under the keel?
Thx,
G.

my father had a 76 18ft 2+3 with a 350 and a volvo 270 drive it went about 65mph. i would crankl the whell and make u turns wfo. it was one of the best handling boats i ever drove, i would launch it off big powerboats wakes wfo all the time it wasw an insane lil ride but really a great handling boat. get used to it and push it as hard as you feel comfy the boat will inspire confidence as you get used to it. have fun. let me know if you decide to sell it and trade up id like to have another. what did you pay for it and what kinda shape is the hull in?
