Default Repowered Big boat are the Bravo1 going to hold

I have a 38 Sea Sun sport 11,000lbs dry 11ft wide installed new 496 ho's from 502 mags, I haven't even driven it yet. Isn't this fun now, but I have a noisey outdrive mech is breaking into to it tommorrow. If I rebuild do I stay with bravo 1 and maybe beef it up with xr gears get away from bravo 1 and go to bravo 1x xz or xr?

502 mag is only 415 horse. i run 600 torque thru stock bravo ones. you should be fine with the bravo ones with that much power. just dont jerk the stick back and forth all the time

You should be fine with that power and Bravo 1's.

I'd be resonable with the throttle until your rig is on plane. No real reason not to be anyhow.

There is a new product on the market that were going to be displaying at the boat show in Feb that incorporates the use of a heat exchanger and a electronically driven pump to circulate oil from the top housing of the Bravo and reduces oil temp by aprox. 50 % from over 360 degrees to about 160-180 I feel there is much to be benefit from this and it is a very extensively researched product I think we'll see alot of in the future If you're interested call Drew at Drew Marine in Washington he's got them ready for sale I know you wont regret it. Sincerely Laz Mesa

Not what you want to hear but sounds like a candidate for Bravo II's.

Laz,
Has anyone actually used this new drive cooler yet? I looked at their website, but found no information. Do you have a link for this system?

Careful how you prop it. There is a necessary % of slip to keep those drives alive.

Bigger props will result in less slip and increase the strain on the drive
