You can make 600 hp with a 540 and Chevy rect. port heads easy. Use a Crane 651 hyd. roller cam. Flat top pistons and zero decking the block gives you 9.6 to 1 compression so use premium gas. Dart, Merlin or Brodix single plane intake and 850 Holley. Later on a good set of heads and a cam change will get you 700 hp.

Thanks everyone for your replies - looks like I will be staying away from Ohio Crank. Anyone else you would suggest using? Dynoflow? Thanks

Corbs,
There are a lot of reputable rotating kit people out there that have good stuff but consider this. If you get a kit over the net or mail order and something is wrong it can be a hassle to get it back to them and all of the other things associated with it. You would be better off going to a local engine builder and paying him a little more $$$ for the simple fact that if something is wrong he can take care of it.

Just food for thought.
