Default Should I chrome or Powder coat my parts

The chrome is flaking off some of the chrome parts on my motor. The intercooler housing, valve covers, turbo heat shields and pulleys all need work. The chrome on the pipes to the turbos and from the turbos to the intercooler is stil in good shape. Should I strip all the chrome off all the parts and powder coat them or rechrome the parts.

The boat is a 1980, I would estimate the chrome parts were put on in the mid 80's. The boat has been and is a fresh water boat.

i lean to powder coating as it's "softer". radiusing sharp corners to improve adhesion is a good idea. btw nice looking setup- what's it in?

If you think it's because of age, powdercoat. There is a chrome powder coat that is very cool. If you think it's because of heat, recoat with high temp paint. They have that now on a lot of colors.

Nice looking. What kind of power is it?

You can do both. Do chrome and add some color.

twin turbo charged 454's. The motors are carbed now, but I am gathering the parts to make them fuel injected. The only difference is that I will have 1 throttle body hounted to the front of each turbo inlet.

hard coat annodize, then powder coat choice of color. works best especially on older used materials that may be a little defunct from a deterioration stand point. with all due.

good luck.
