Default converting wet exhaust to dry?

I've been looking at a motor that needs dry exhaust. The problem is, I have two sets of perfectly good IMCO powerflows. I saw a post a while ago on converting wet exhaust to dry. There were two approaches to this.

1. Weld the exit holes closed and weld a 1" npt bung on the top of the back of the riser and dump the water over board.

2. Extend the riser to 6" past the transom by welding on an additional double walled tube.

I'm curious about the first option. I'm sure the riser would stay cool enough, but what about the rubber exhaust hose and the tips?

Dry is the way to go for performance and for no reversion, however, you can not have any type of rubber mounted to the pipe for extension becauase it will melt. There is no water running through to keep it wet.

I didn't think about the rubber hose druing out. I guess I can give the guy up in OH a call about getting mine extended and see if the price is worth it.

Anybody want to trade some IMCOs plus cash for a set dry exhaust?
