Default B&M BLOWER

What Can You Guys Tell Me About A 454 Bulldog With L88 Heads And A B&m Street Blower. About 500hp. Reliability, What Should I Look For While Test Driving. How Many Hours Can I Expect Before A Rebuild. Motor Has 240 Hours On It And 20 On The Blower. Thanks In Advance For The Help.

First off, a Merc bulldog was a tall deck 540, 500hp.
Second, L88? Are you referring to the high compression 427 heads? Sorry, my corvette background is showing through.

There is not a 454 Bulldog. Merc made a 540 cid, 500 hp Bulldog. I doubt that this engine is a bulldog. It has factory cast iron exhaust. I'd walk if it wasn't really cheap.

I'm not sure...Maybe the L-88 engine ran the 188 {Open Chamber,Rect Port} head.....
At 500hp i would think the boost is pretty low. Thats a good thing for long
life.

The only L88 I know of are the aluminum rectangular port heads used on late 60's corvettes. Kind of old tech.
BTW, you cant turn a 454 into a 540 bulldog. Different blocks.
Get full specs, block and head codes, type of blower, crabs, cam, etc... Then someone here can probably give you good info.

Get the cam specs, the compression ratio, model of blower, blower pulley ratio, psi boost @ rpm, engine block #s, head #s, ask if the carb is boost referenced, and make sure all the accessories are USCG approved (fuel pump, flame arrestor, alternator, starter, etc).
I've never been much of a fan of the L & S extension boxes. And note bravos are not the strongest drives for a blown engine. Check the gimbal for play too.
