Harbor freight motorcycle lift:
http://www.harborfreight.com/automot...ift-99887.html
$150 on sale with 20% discount coupon.
Cut the fork down and re-welded it; needed 6.5" for a Konrad 520.
Missing the fork tilt, as has been mentioned. And some casters on the lower fork to help move it in.
Maybe I can find a ball fitting somewhere like the photographers use on tripod heads for total adjustability on the fork.
Excellent thread thanks to all who posted.

That's a nice idea with the cycle lift....but why cut the forks...just screw down a 3/4" plywood board with the proper opening for a drive and it can be dual purpose!

I've really enjoyed this thread, getting some great ideas on stands. The photo shows what I came up with about 10 years ago to R&R an outdrive. Had to put it to use again, lately, to replace bellows. I just use a length of pipe to support the drive, via a J-bolt... the other end of the pipe is strapped under the handle on the hoist. Since I already had the engine hoist, my only cost on this adaptation was for two bolts.
(This is my first time, here, trying unsuccessfully, to get a photo to show in the window.... so, I had to post the url, above. Can somebody describe the process for posting photos? Thanks!)
