Re: oil coolers

I'd say to try the coolers you have and monitor your oil temps and then go bigger if you need to.

Re: oil coolers

Are these combo coolers, oil and power steering or just oil?
Do you have temp data now?
Wobble's question and Griff's advice hold true.
More details.

For 450 HP to 600 HP a 3" by 20" is suggested...

I like Hardin's dual 2" by 18" setup...personally..I know a guy who uses twin duallys...primo!

Arrow Re: oil coolers

So Teagues have a 28"er and Hardin has dual 18"ers which is 36" of surface area...it's all about surface area..I think awhile back most thought the Dual 18" Hardin Marine units offered the most cooling/surface area and can be in tandem for dual 18" units with 72" of surface area...they cool really well I can tell you that and flow great! I see 'em on race boats...larger diameters means less surface to heat exchange surface area...these things can cool your oil to room temp if you desire..

Re: oil coolers

Can any one tell me if this is a stock Merc. oil cooler? Its on a 1991 502 mag. Will this cool 600 horse and if not what cooler is recommended?Should it be thermostatically controlled?

Thanks Nordic95
