Yes.. you take a bearing race and grind it down to make the OD smaller by a few thousandths... So you can push it in with your fingers instead of driving it in and out. Shims can be changed so much easier and setup, then you put the new race is.. Save's a lot of work.

Dick,
I guess I ment someone with alot more drive experience than me. You have taught me plenty about drives. I should say, everything I know came from you.
Allthough nearly everyone here knows this, I just want to make it public that Dick (Mr Gadgets), is one of the good ones here. He will go out of his way to help a fellow member. His knowledge of drives is second to none. We have become good friends that started here on OSO. Personally, I would and have done everything I could for him whenever possible.
