What can I expect?
What kind of gains can I expect?
1991 Baja 260 with stock 340hp 454 and Brovo 1 drive.
Don't want to go crazy money wise.
Replace factory exhaust with something lighter and better breathing. Upgrade ignition, and add K&N air filter.
Also maybe go to a bigger carb and cam.
I am not that great with engines, but I do have someone that is.
Boat tops out at about 60-62 now with a 23 pitch.
Does anybody have any of this laying around they want to sell?
Or am I just totally wasting my time it won't get me anything? I would think if I got 50 - 100 more hp it should get me something. Would that be to much hp for my drive?
Take any help I can get guys.
Thanks
Dave

Its going to take a lot of HP to get any kind of gains. You may find that the mods you want to do gain a lot of power but i think the gains will be minimal. A 50 HP gain in that boat may only get you 1-3mph. I would have to say leave it alone.
WOW. did i just say that?

Re: What can I expect?
hehe, well if ur 26 is running 62 with 340 horsies, then its a pretty efficient hull. id also go for a better single plane intake, and roller rockers. then you would get a realistic total around 440 horse with a good cam. so with a gain around 100 horse thats about 29 percent increase...so depending how well propped the boat is now id say with a good prop you could run around low 70s. btw if you check the classifieds under engine section, there is a listing with parts from a triple cig revo. we have a complete cmi exhaust with switchable mufflers that would fit. as well as other parts, etc.
