Since posting this thread last year I learned the chad hill stainless gimbal (which I wasted my money on) wouldn't fit without some serious hacking,welding and machining. I also learned a hp gimbal has the side pivot pins that are held in with little screws instead of threading in plus they have mechaincal indicators with cables,this thread is old but maybe this info will help someone with the same question,Smitty

i would suggest using the imco gimbal ring and helmut as a pair to insure adding the most strength you ca n to that particular area. the imco requires no mods. i have used it at least several times.
as stated above, launching and rentry is the most stressfull abuse the gimbal with stands . the aftermarket addons i mentioned are the only real im,provements available that i am aware of. and they infact work well.
i have rigged more than a few single engine vee-s with 800 to 1000 h.p in them with bravos, and seen almost everything you could imagine in drive and gimbal failure. the imco parts work.
