Default How much to rebuild HP500EFI's

My 2001 HP500EFI motors have 300 hours on them. I think it may be time to have them freshened up. What can I figure the cost will be to do this? Who can do this?

I know a marina in Michigan that would pull them out..send them off to be rebuilt...and reinstall them for 15k.

I think it may be more like 20k as this guy gives low ball estimates and then it's "... guess what we found when we pulled them apart time".....I know a guy who would redo them right for about 25k.

Let me know if you want a hook up.

I will probably pull/reinstall them myself. Is that price "per motor"? I have a triple, as in three of them, to do. Anybody give a quantity discount?

Where are you located??? A very capable engine builder is located in Scranton, PA............they are building the new version of my 1965 Daytona Scarabs from scratch for he Ghost Rider............S&L Motors.......old line company, less emphasis on glitter and a lot of savy on the go part.....ask for John Lewis @ 670 342-9718..........Scranton is an old line place, S&L prices are also old line..........

linster, your close but off by about 2000 file to fit rings extra labor not included, r&r is low should be about 850 and you didnt include dressing the mtr and stripping it, and assy if done right (check and double check) is alittle low

the labor #s are about right for a 5.7 even jasper gets 2500 for a 5.7 and I wouldnt put it in my worst enemys boat

If I build someones 500 I make sure its not going to come apart, will I do a complete rebuild and R&R for 6000 no because it means short cuts where taken

oh and just noticed do you replace lifters, springs ect and not replace the cam

real simple and I think most builders/ tech will agree do it right or dont do it at all

No I am not the cheapest... but it will be right

If you want cheaper call me and Ill be more then happy to point you to cheaper and tell you how many Ive had to go back into because someone was "cheaper"

With out seeing seeing the condition of everything but assuming nothing major. A complete rebuild with dyno run would be around 6-7k ea.
If we can help let me know.
Thanks Mike
