Superboat Y2K Turbine
optimum surface drive location

I wanted to ask a general question. I am building a project boat, a single engine vee hull with a surface drive, a Sage #8 drive. We are having trouble finding the optimal up and down location of the drive. The drive is approximately 4' long from transom to prop.

Is there a general rule when it comes to mounting surface drives as to how far from the bottom of the vee the prop shaft should be located?

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Dino
