Thumbs up Running out of water//Added info

It is a 28 twin 350 Mirage. Boat continues to run out of water and the heads over heat. Both motors and drives completely rebuilt and all water lines checked and rechecked. Question is, is there way to run the motor without a water thermostat or run the water lines a different way to keep the cool water coming in. Thanks Steve (916 684 9437)///They are OMC Cobra outdrives they pull water from the bottom of the outdrives //I have installed new impellers on both drives//The exhaust manifolds are Stellings stainless marine water cooled large tube exhaust headers.. All four exhaust are in good shape no rust or corrision. The motors are ZZ4 Chevrolet 350's with aluminum heads. And thanks guys Im going crazy with this problem...........

Need a little more info. What drives? How old? Closed cooling? What shape is the raw water pump/impellor in if it has one?

Are You Sure Someone Didn't Put Thermostat In Upside Down?? Check For Air Leaks Around Fittings. If This Wasn't A Problem Beefier Something Has Ben Hooked Up Wrong.

Sounds like an impeller took a crap. I've seen John S. change them in the water, in the rain in about 15 minutes!!

My brother in law bought a 31 Sonic from Hugh a few years back and we took it on a sea trial and never made it out of the channel by Red Eyes before the port motor overheated.....someone left the flush cap off and she sucked air. You came down and replaced it at the dock at Red Eyes.......in the rain.

We may not make it to the run next weekend....I've come down with an infection in my chest and am having a hell of a time kickin' it. But we'll see what happens over the weekend.
