has anyone thought of...
a plate that would extend off an outdirves cavplate towards the rear, about 6inches or a foot past the props blades? we will be taking our revo to our home in florida, and all the houses in this neighborhood are on canals with lifts in back. the problem, is that the canal is 60-65ft wide, and people have dock, and lifts etc....so trying to turn a 42ft long boat....45ft or so with the drives makes it hard to not hit the concrete canal we think....so with a plate that would extend, that could keep the props from hitting the concrete, it would also help docking other places, where the props could be damaged backing up as well as protecting if someone fell off the boat from hitting the props. has anyone seen a prodcut liek thsi, or is it already out there widely used and i juust happened to hvemissed it?? mayb this is all a stupid question...but its a thought, and if not, were gonna have to custom fabricate some plates anyways

I would come up with a better idea the strain that the plates would put on the drives pivots if hit would surely do some serious damage!

My dad had same problem as I was growing up.
We finally figured it out - place me on swim platform as a bumper. It would cushion the impact and actually had a loud Db transmitter if impact was great enough.
LOL !!!
How about some of those long styrofoam noodles (things you swim with) so you can atleast guage how far drives are from wall/objects. They won't cushion impact if hanging off back but will give distance perception as they start to bend from touching objects.

I have it all figured out for you.
1) Trade in old dad for new dad that can drive a boat.
2) Buy a smaller boat.
3) move to a house with ocean front bulk head.
See how easy.
