Is it possible to pressure check the manifold in the boat still on the motor?? I was going to disconnect the intake and exit water line and plug one end and pressure up the other to see if any leaks or bleed down occurs. If this is something that can be done How much pressure should I pressure the sytem up to?

you are better off taking the manifold off then do as you said ( if dry joint ) that way you can see if and where its leaking....I normally just hook garden hose up to it (its more then enough pressure ) and look for water leaking out

You could do it that way with a gauge on it. 30 psi is about the highest your boat engine will see. So I tested my Gils to 60psi.

Joe, I did test mine off the boat. 2 of them are such a pain to get off, I can see why he may want to leave them on.

What I am trying to accomplish is to see if that is the potential place where I am getting water in the oil. I figured it is a pain to remove and if I could do it on the motor and find a leak then I could narrow down my search.

So 30 pounds should enough to tell if any leaks. Also should the motor be at operating temp??

if using 30 psi no need to remove expansion shouldnt be ness.....you can always adapt a drive press tester and do it that way I guess I think mine goes upto 30 psi. ( stevens inst.)

I am new to all this.

I built a guage to pressure up the sytem to see if I have any presure loss in the manifold. Is this not the way to do it? I have a 502 w/ gil exhaust and risers and after last time on the water I had a slight sign of moisture in my oil. Upon further investigation I found a sludge in my valve covers and need to find the source other than the possibility of condensation. Maybe it is condensation, but Id rather be safe that sorry. Especially since this is the first time that water has beeen noticed and before my oil gets milky.

There is a drive pressure test kit that is probubly a nicer version of what you made to test your manifolds.
If you do pull your manifold off, it's pretty easy to determine if there is a leak by looking for rust in your Exhaust port.

When I had one leaking one cylinder would go dead at idle.

there isnt any real way to test the risers other then visible water trails
