What would I have if I took blower off 575sci

Just curious, if I bought a boat w/ 575sci's and I wanted to lean to the "turn-key" side vs. blower issues. How dumb would it be to take off blower? (Not saying I would)
What else would that modification require? Reprogram computor module?
Benefits i could think of; dependability, easier on drives (XR's), lower octane gas, could still add better cam.
Disadvantage; speed. torque, hp...
Again, just curious.

Re: What would I have if I took blower off 575sci

I think the 575sci is a pretty mild engine when compared to other supper charged mills...
I don't believe those engines will run vary well without the supercharger as they have a 7.5:1 compression ratio...
The base engines are a 502 so they could be reworked into a 500HP+ NA engines, but IMO a waste...

I agree, if the motors are in good shape with good maintenence, you shouldn't have any trouble. The 575's are low boost and don't have detination problems that I'm aware of. That's one big reason you pay extra for the merc power... reliability.

If you want to ditch the SC, you'd be better off to try and trade it complete toward a 500 or 525EFI.

Aside from their appetite, and their slight loss of
power when it gets hot out, the 2 I have (so far)
have been flawless.

Neither of them use any oil ( between change intervals)

Got to agree with everyone elses comments so far.

Re: What would I have if I took blower off 575sci

They ARE NOT that thirsty. I have 575's in my TS TG and a buddy has HP500's. Both get almost the same fuel mileage. In fact the 575's get slightly better than his HP500's.

The 575 is a VERY turn key reliable motor. Just like the HP500, you have to do valve springs after 200 - 250 hours. Also you should send the blowers to the blower shop and have them rebuild them. Do that and you should be very reliable and happy. GREAT motor!!!!!!!
