How do I get 300+HP from Merc350/260?
I'm not sure how I would search but if there are posts on this topic, feel free to redirect me. I'm a newbie trying to learn.
If it was time to refresh stock 260hp Mercs, what different parts do I need to get 300hp out of them? I assume different cam, but is there a different head/intake/carb/ignition setup? Or is just upgrading to the Vortec stuff the way to go?
No, I wouldn't be doing the work myself, but while they were apart I figure it should only be a (relatively) small extra cost to get the better parts during the rebuild instead of buying complete new motors?
Thanks for any insight,
Michael

Cam, intake, carb, some mild head work and exhaust to prevent reversion.
Other than probably the cam, all the rest would be an addl expense, prob an addl 3k per engine.
