I have a cam out of my Shafiroff 540 sitting here and I'm getting ready to build a gen V 502 for my Velocity. I just want to get some opinions on the cam. Here are the specs. It's a Comp "HER" dual pattern grind 255/262 651/651 on 114 lsa.

Would it be better suited for a 540, or will it work in my 502? The motor will be stock bottom end and AFR 315 heads. I'm leaning toward the Crane 168741 grind, but if this one will work, why not use it.

I don't think you could spin the 502 fast enough for that one.

651 Is Big . Thats Very Close To What I Run And Made For Higher Rpm Range, I Was Told Its Too Big For The Boating I Do But Thats What Came In The Motor. The 741 Would Be Much Better For Running 5 - 6000 Rpm. Excellent Head Choice . Buy A Marine Cam, You Will Not Regret It. The Engine Builders I Know All Use Crower Cams And Lifters.

Does that thing come with a shovel to get the snow off the lobes. 230@50 if the exausts are wet, 235 is pushing it.

Frank, I have a pair of 565cid naturally aspirated engines with the 315cc AFR CNC ported heads and even I don't use a cam anything even close to that much duration----and so far I have had my 32' A/T running at 93.6mph on the GPS, full of fuel, calm water, and going against the river current!

You might want to try contacting "RMbuilder"/Bob Madara of Marine Kinetics. He has helped many guys get dialed in here on OSO with proper cam selections.
